You may wish to use your CreateFSU account to host content on an FSU-owned domain (i.e. a direct subdomain of fsu.edu). Before proceeding it is important that you get in touch with us at lib-create@fsu.edu. The following guide outlines the steps for doing a domain transfer. You will be able to complete many of the steps yourself, but ITS will have to complete the final steps. Please do not contact ITS about the domain transfer until the necessary steps in this guide have been completed.
Get approval for the new domain name
Contact the necessary partners in your college and at ITS and university communications to secure approval for the domain name. Follow University Communication’s Domain Name Guidelines and follow the instructions for submitting a domain name for approval.
You may also need to consider using a subdomain of your college’s URL (such as yourproject.cfa.fsu.edu or yourcollege.music.fsu.edu). Ensure necessary parties in your college are also contacted, if applicable.
Once you have documentation of the domain name’s approval, contact us at lib-create@fsu.edu to notify us of the domain name change. You may continue with the steps outlined in the guide on connecting another domain to CreateFSU, but a CreateFSU team member will need to complete some of the final steps of the process. It’s god to be in touch early to ensure we can assist you in a timely manner.
